There’s a range of new marketing techniques marketers are developing with social media to sell, promote, brand and develop relationships with customers.

The key question, how well do they work? New River can measure these efforts across the range of marketing goals from simple traffic measures through to important and more complex long-term buyer behvaiour goals.

We have methods to measure your brand equity and impact, relationships with customers and potential customers, how social media has affected your purchase intentions, and how social media interacts with your other marketing efforts so can see the overall impact.

Custom Research

Custom research is where we design a research approach to answer the questions that are most important to you. Nearly all of our market research contains at least elements of this way of working.

Trials & Evaluation Studies

Trials or pilots are an effective way to maximize eventual results and reduce risk. Trial something in a limited region – e.g. new messaging, a new product or pricing strategy – measure what works best, then roll it out to the wider market.

This type of research allows you to accurately see what changes in customer perceptions and behaviour result from the factors you’ve introduced with the trial. It is slower than going straight to market, but allows you to go to the wider market with best package.

New River runs high-level trials including ones in the medical / health field (with professors on the research team, requiring complex ethics committee approvals for research). We can design and run outstanding commercial trials for you.

Drivers of Customer Profitability

One of most vital questions we all have to face is on profitability. Could we be marketing in a more profitable way? Should we be working with customers how we are now or differently? Is there an 80: 20 rule we should be applying in some way to reduce costs and increase profit?

Most managers have a general idea of what needs to be done to create more profit – customers with larger transaction sizes, who buy multiple products, higher margin products, customers who are more loyal etc. We attempt to focus on those we believe are most important. What most do not know is the exact impact of these factors when taken together.

New River has developed a methodology (combining sampling, financial mathematics and customer behaviour analysis) to do this. It calculates current customer profitability drivers, enables simulations of different strategies to see what the profitability outcomes would be before you implement them.

New Product / Service / Technology

Sooner or later most companies will launch a new product, service or technology. Failure rates in this area can be very high (it’s one of the riskiest areas of business and marketing). Research really is essential in this area.

If you can develop and launch successful new products, and develop that as a capability; this can have a fundamental effect on your company’s performance – large scale international studies find more innovative firms are more successful overall.

Our new product research approaches are based on meta-analysis findings (combinations of many studies). This work shortlists what factors are common to new product successes. This is also an area we’ve had a lot of successful experience.
