Innovation Management

New River has a wide range of research tools and knowledge on innovation management. There are robust management systems and methods you can apply across all stages of innovation and commercialization. There is extensive evidence nowadays on what works best.

If you need assistance in any of innovation stages, or putting a management system in place to strengthen your innovation capability, we can assist you with this. Large dataset studies internaitonally find more innovative firms outperform less innovative firms (i.e. it's a great capability to have).

New River developed the University of Auckland’s first executive course on commercializing innovation. New River also designed and ran the NBR’s exciting companies series for nine years which looked through over 40 industries to find New Zealand's most innovative companies. We’ve also worked on, what are now, highly successful innovations. 

Leveraging Assets & IP

Evidence shows that companies often do not use their assets in ways which generate the most value. Firms often have assets with major hidden value, usually because of a focus on the traditional core markets.

Most firms have a wide range of assets from physical, human capital to intangible. This kind of strategic research and analysis allows you to find if there is likely to be any major hidden value in those assets, so you can better leverage it going forward.

We firstly apply tests to identify assets most likely to have hidden value. Then we apply a research methodology for finding what the value of the assets better leveraged could be; and identify strategies to do it.

Export Panels

Export panels provide research from customers in international markets. How modern research works is companies develop panels of consumers and SMEs which clients can access for research. Our contacts in China, for instance, have a panel of over one million people we can access for you.

Export panels provide a fast and efficient way for you to research international consumers' perceptions and attitudes. With these panels you can, as well as measure different questions, test visual and even video collateral.

Given New River is an independent firm we can provide access to the best panels in the world (unlike the multinationals who usually are restricted to using their own firm’s panels). You can directly test everything from your product, to advertising, pricing, channels, brand, competition and so on.

Fundamental Analysis

Fundamental analysis looks at trends in underlying factors which alter the shape of the market over the long term. It looks at what the trends are, the interactions, and how they are likely to shape demand and customer preferences going forward.

This type of analysis gives you a view into the long term directions for different sections of markets. It’s used for deciding which markets to invest in and broadly to decide what benefits you should design to meet what people will demand.

In general, we do fundamental analysis by compiling and analyzing trend information in economic-demographics, attitudes, technology, regulation and international innovations; industry specific drivers may also be included.
